I was wondering why some of these large Paintball companies don't advertise on TV.

I know awhile back Brass Eagle had a small ad campaign (30 sec spots) going here in the US. I had folks who knew I played, but knew nothing about it, then they saw the ad and thought perhaps it could something they'd be interested in. For the very short period of time that these Ads ran, it gave a little bit of legitimacy to the sport, and peaked interest.

I would think that some of the other companies would try this route as well.

Could it be it's just to damn expensive to advertise on TV, for say..... Kingman, WDP etc?

If X-ball is the direction to take in getting mass market appeal, then don't you think a market support launch would be more advantageous for the sport as a whole. The OLN show may have been better if they ran independent PB product Ads outside of the show, just like they do in everyother sports show. I believe at the very least people watching it would say..." wow, I guess this paintball thing is bigger than I thought. "

Thoughts ?

I think its becaue the only people that buy products from the larger companies are established paintballers. Most first timers don't know/care what products they are using.

To appeal to the general public, the advert would have to be for a site. Most individual sites couldnt afford TV exposure even on the cheaper channels.

So if you're going to make an ad that appeals to the general public, you'd be better of forming some kind of coallition between the big companies to promote paintball as a whole. Come on UKPSF :p :p

Quite simply, makers such as Kingman, WDP are going to see a much higher return from selling their products through industry publications like PGI

Ah, good point.
But doesn't Kingman basically rule the market for first timers ( along with BE )? You can walk into most Wal-marts, Sports Authorities and Dicks, and see these markers displayed.

They certainly have a fair market share of first time buyers (as opposed to first time players) but again, most first time buyers are likely to read up on what they're buying in the industry mags...and get advice from other players etc.

I'm sure companies have looked at it but a thirty second ad is going to cost a load of cash. Companies would much rather spend money on sponsorship and advertising within the industry.

Why not get groups to help fund a Paintball advert or companies with sites promote the site and product.

Also what about radio adverts for local sites. Its cheaper than some people think (well in comparisson to TV) and you will probably get more people to hear it

If you want a Radio ad made, Let me know.....
I can do these with a little help. I have all the technology and qualifications so.......:D

Warped Sportz actually has a general ad for television, it's just up to the individual shops to run it in their specific locale. There's also a local field here in Kansas City that runs television ads, but mostly, paintball ads around here are on the radio. K.C. isn't a paintball capitol by any means, so I'm a bit surprised at this thread, or maybe, I've just never thought of this before.;)
