I work at 6th form college and they have some great sites for possible sup'air play. I could organise a day but need some info from previous organisers.

1) How Fncked do the fields get ( i don't want to mislead them)

2) How easy is it to clear up the paint afterwards? I know a lot is left but the bulk needs to be shifted.

3) Netting, posts etc. I would rather use those blocks that hold posts rather than sticking it in the ground.

It needs to be high as there is residential areas around. Is there permission i need to obtain first?

What other things do i need to think of? just so i can put a propsal to my superieors and with any luck get it organised.

Any ideas and comments please I need them all.

to clear things up first.

are you talking about organising a sup'air tournament on a playing field ( or whatever ) , or are you talking about a training day? Also , who owns the proposed venue? Do you have any links with site owners/operators at the moment?

Would do it as a tourney.

Its a College playing field (cricket/rugby/footy pitch)

The College I work for own it.

I am one of Sparklies Marshalls, but I just throw ideas out to the world and when things might look clear I can set the proposal out to Sparklie and any one else involved.

So any info on what is needed etc would be great

O.k.

First thing , I would suggest you sort out any insurance requirements first. If you dont and you run an event , anything that goes wrong , to player or spectator that is neglegent , is your responsibility , and YOU are liable for any compensation. Sparlie would be a good person to talk to about this.

As for the field requiremants you asked about before.

A well stablished playing field , will recover from an event quite quickly , and assuming you have good weather during your event , there should not be too much wear on the field.
As for paint removal , if there is somewhere at the venue you can pile it up to break down naturally , that would be better for you ( otherwise your gonna have to transport 1000's and 1000's of paintballs away to somewhere you can dump them. Best way to move it , is plenty of help and a lot of plastic rakes.
But if the venue owners can allow you too leave them where they fall , they will break down naturally in a couple of weeks. Helps if it rains though.
Netting and posts. I think youre talking about the concrete post blocks that you see for building site fencing. If you are I would say forget it. Anything more than sneazing on it from 20 foot away will blow it over. Best option is to bore small holes into the ground and place scaffold poles into them. pack them in with wooden stakes. Attatch your netting to this. Get it as high as you can.
As for any special permission to use the field for paintball , I would firstly ask your college , and also contact the local council for any information they can give you.

Other things to think of , well :

Format for the event. 5 or 7 , or even 10 man. 1 or 2 day event. Open or Limited. Entry fees. How many teams you want and therefore how many fields you need? can you hire this many sup'airs or not? ( will they fit on the field? ). Players area ( needs to be big enough for everyone , and under cover ). Parking. Toilets. Trade stands. Air / Co2 supply. Paint ( BYO , Site paint. Are you going to be sponsored event? or open. Will paint suppliers attend? ). Marshals ( who's gonna do it? do they have experience of tourny ball? ). Advertising the event.
and probably a lot more that I have not listed.

I dont want to put you off , but there is a lot to think about. I really would suggest talking to sparklie sooner rather than later.

Hope this helps , and good luck.

p.s. I have never actually organised an event myself , but I have been involved in the set up organisation and clear up of an awfull lot , aswell as playing them for longer than I care to mention.

it might be better 1st of all going to and organised day where proper equipment and markers are available
do you have a chrono because all the marker should be below 300fps also have you make to that you have insurance as well
it takes alot just to organise even a training make sure all the safety regulations for markers are followed as well.
