Registration now open for NPPL Commander's Cup OC

Team Registration is now open for the NPPL Commander's Cup OC 2006 at www.NPPL.tv

The National Professional Paintball League (NPPL) and Pure Promotions are pleased to announce the NPPL Commander’s Cup 2006 will be held October 20th – 22nd in the heart of the OC at the Orange County Fair and Expo Center in Costa Mesa, California.

Just minutes from the breathtaking Pacific Ocean and conveniently located next to the John Wayne/Santa Ana Airport, The OC Fair and Expo Center draws in millions of visitors each year to its hundreds of concerts, events, shows, fairs and the OC Marketplace. The Super 7 is thrilled to be working with such an established venue and professional staff for this year-end Paintball extravaganza.

The Super 7 World Series of Paintball is made up of five events held across the United States each year, with the Commander’s Cup as the final event of the season. 200 Teams from all over the world compete in each event from the local walk-on level to the highly trained professional level. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash prizes are given away to event champions through out the tour, but only one team can take home the title of the 2006 NPPL Super 7 World Series Champion. Teams accumulate points all year long to join in on a race for this very title. The current leaders in the Professional Division are Sacramento XSV with San Diego Dynasty, Miami Rage, Stockholm Joy Division, Ironmen, and New York NRG all in a position to take their hopes of a title away and make it their own.

The Tradeshow for this year’s Commander’s Cup is already the talk of the industry as the paintball marker and equipment manufacturers are choosing this event to launch their 2007 lines to the public. Parents can easily get all their Holiday shopping taken care of at this year’s Commander’s Cup as over 50 Paintball companies will be offering special rates on all of their latest gear, equipment, markers and apparel. Dealers are encouraged to contact their sales reps to make arrangements for private product demos and take advantage of special show-only rates.

There is fun for the entire family as a simulated paintball field is set up where any one can see what it’s like to play paintball – with out the paint. Special nurf-like balls are used in place of the gelatin capsules to give spectators the experience of a paintball match with out having to worry about making a mess. The Baja Blues restaurant and bar will be open on site all weekend long as well as plenty of other food and concession stands. Music lovers will be pleased to find there will be two stages with live music all weekend long as well as plenty of other attractions and amusement for the entire family.

This event will offer 8 games of play for the following divisions:

Professional $2,950

Semi Professional $2,750

Division I – Advanced $2,450

Division II – Novice $2,250

Division III – Rookie $1,950

The league also offers a “Young Guns” division - 3-player competition for Teams with players 10 – 15 years old. Team entry for Young Guns is $350. The Young Guns division is hosted in conjunction with Bear's Cup. While all other divisions play games Friday, Saturday and Sunday if they qualify for the Semi Finals, The Young Guns games will be played on Sunday only. Team Registration opens Monday, September 18th at www.NPPL.tv for any and all teams wishing to participate.

The OC Fair and Expo Center is conveniently located near the junction of the 55 freeway, the 405 freeway and 73 toll road between Newport Blvd and Fairview on Fair Dr. Other nearby airports approximately 30 – 45 minutes away includes Long Beach and the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The Commander’s Cup is an annual tournament dedicated to the late Maurice Gibb of legendary music group The Bee Gees. Gibb, known to many as the greatest ambassador of our sport, passed away in January of 2003 while making plans with the NPPL to hold the greatest event of all time and call it “The Commander’s Cup”. Each year the league names the last event of the season “The Commander’s Cup” in memory of Maurice. The NPPL and Pure Promotions encourage participants and supporters to support the Gibb Family’s charitable efforts by donating to the Gibb Foundation.
