Hmm, I'm mister none but I'll try to express the way things look in my mind.
a. Paintball is (or is very close in becoming) a mainstream sport where lots of money is involved ,especially with pro teams like the ton-tons. When there's money ,winning becomes REALLY important so wanna-be winners concider all options in order to accomplish their goal. And due to the fact that in such situations things really start to count into the most strict detail ,the judges have to stick into every rule. If (at this phase) we don't consider the safety matter (i know ITS THE MOST IMPORTANT-wait till I finish please) then the ton-tons shouldnt be chronoed at the end of the game as it was said at the capt's meeting ,just because this is the way it was done with everybody-e.g. it was done this way with other pro teams who might have cheated and not caught. And this is because most pro teams (not only in paintball-consider other mainstream sports too) consider everything Beyond the rules, inside them...
b.But the safety matters the most ,so you gotta try and do your best to be sure everything is safe during the tourneys. So **** the rules, and **** everything. You gotta try to insure that next time none will do this again cause it was because of luck that nothin'bad happened in this situation, right?
Now this guy ,Laurent, I'm sure that he didn't want to hurt anyone.I'm pretty sure he considered things like in the a. ,believin'that it wasnt fair for his team to have this penalty ,cause no other team competing with'em did.But we gotta stop what he did...
My problem is that the 50 points penalty is a more severe penalty for just cheating (which doesnt applies for safety). In this way you give the chance to Laurent and other guys ,to claim that they were not treated right ,because everything is done by the book with a small exception-the chroneing in the end of the game. You don't make'em understand that safety is beyond ALL those rules...
I say that a different and more severe penalty should punish those guys-after all I'm sure they won't change after all-hey no athletes will change easily , you just gotta try make the rules force them...
But if I had to chose JUST between the 50 points for the 2nd chroneing (total 100) or nothing (just the 50 for the first) then the 50(total 100) sounds very good to me,as a quick solving of the problem-or as a good start. Don't stick to the rules if safety's involved...
Respect to all.
P.S. I hope none stick anything in my earholes ;-)
