Apart from running behind all day, the tournament was decent with the exception of the marshalls on the yellow field. All I can say is pitiful. That was the first tournament that I have been to where i didn't have any fun at all. I sat myself 4 of the 8 games we played. I have much respect for Clive and Sandra and usually the tournaments are great, but we had 6 of our 8 games on the yellow field and the marshalls on that field totally ruined my day.

Marshalling seems to be a problem at every level of the sport, what is the solution? Well scrabbling for marshals prior to an event is not the right way to go about it thats for sure, gotta have a longer term focus and possibly some sort of mandatory marshalling agreement?

It is going to take marshalls that don't play tournament paintball, just marshall. There are too many "friends" that play, and we need an unbiased group of marshalls. That is the only way it will get any better.

The yellow field was the one right in front of the staging area.

I found the marshelling on both fields to be fine. The guys on the blue field were excellent and had to put up with so many games going to time.
Also the guys who did the yellow field were fine i thought, fast onto any players who needed checking and they let the game flow as much as possible without to many players being called neutral unless totally neccesary

good fun all round

What was so bad about the marshalling on yellow field?Let me know mate?
Paintchecks: When you call for a marshall to do a paintcheck on someone, you expect the marshall to go to the player and check him thoroughly for a break. There were two instances on the day where I called for a marshall to check someone. The marshall stood about three feet away from the player, bent over for about 4 seconds and then waived play on. I know I had hit these players because I saw the break.

Playing on: This is the main reason I was ticked about the marshalling on that field and it really comes down to the ultimate.

We had 3 guys left and the other team had 3 left. The back right player advanced from the back tape to the middle. As he advanced, I fired at him as he progressed. He eventually came up the middle and mugged all 3 players on my team which was a very nice move. The only problem was, he had a break on his leg during the whole mug. The marshall didn't catch this until after the flag was pulled and that was only because we pointed it out to him. The ultimate only gave the player a 1-4-1 for playing on, but that player was already dead and he shot out 3 of our players costing us a possible win!!!

Maybe I was a little harsh about saying the marshalling was pitiful, but I have seen a lot better. I know the home field team (The Knights) were marshalling, so I am sure I am going to hear about it on here, but that is how I felt.
