Ion and Co2

I know that its best not to use Co2 with an Ion, but what I want to know is, at what point does it become a problem using Co2? I have an air tank but am having trouble finding somewhere to fill it and I have had my Ion for over a month now and have not been able to test fire it. I was thinking of getting one of those little 4oz Co2 tanks just so I can test to see if the Ion actually works. Would this cause any damage to the Ion? I would probably only put like less than 50 paintballs through it, just need to know it works. Thanks.

no it should do anything to it as long as you get it with an antisyphen tube so that liquid CO2 doesnt get in your marker, but really you want to use air as its cleener more efiicient and more constant
have you tried the yellow pages for local dive shops they will usually be able to fill up air for you dude

I could only find one dive shop near me that filled tanks, but I emailed them about it and they never got back to me. I thought it ould be unlikely that they would, dont they need an adapter to fill paintball tanks?

A good dive shop should be able to fill it for you. It shouldnt damage your Ion just firing a few shots, but never play with a co2 bottle attached... ever.

mate, if it's just a matter of an odd air fill to give you some test shot capability and if you can get over to milton keynes I'll sort you out with some air free of charge.

I can give you anywhere from a 2000 to 3000 psi fill off my scuba tanks.

as said, anti-syphon tube will do the job but CO2 will perish the o-rings alot quicker than air i believe (or so i've been told ) so putting alot of paint through would be no good at all.

however, 50 paintballs should be absolutely fine. after i'd stripped mine down, cleaned and re-assembled, i put about 100 through using CO2 with controlled firing (it was a cold night anyway, not useful!) and just made sure it was fine on semi and ramping. air is preferable tho, better dry firing your nuts off using air then using co2 and freezing the important bits

air is king. co2 f**ks electronic markers over. if ur wanting to pay £140(ish) for an ion just to go ahead and break it then feel free but running co2 into a marker such as an ion is in no way a good thing. anti-syphon or not.

i know this sounds stupid but wot me n friswel 69 have done to get about 300psi in the air tank will give 10/15 real shots is get a car tire inflator n fill it with that
