Are there any forums dedicated to discuss the designing/making of a paintball markers? (for commercial or just for the fun of making them)

I personally am going to get a milling machine to make some prototypes - test them, show them off, let people have a go and tell me what I can improve on etc, maybe even sell them (? :) )

I just need to know more about the internals of a marker... the body parts are easy (in comparison, providing you have the equipment of course...)

Any info would be appreciated, if not I sense trial and error around the corner

the voided warrenty section of pbnation is always good for a read, a nice combination of serious buiders and tinkerers and a smattering of 15 year olds hacking the hell out of a spider to try and make it better.

the tinkerers guild is a more 'grown up' environment where a lot of big names in custom markers hang out and post

as tom said already manuals are a good place to read on how markers work or better yet get hold of a couple of cheap markers and rip em apart.........actually you gave me an idea....tom do you still have that box of mine? i think we just found it a worthy home!

making markers aint easy by the way, oftern there are a lot of custom made parts/fittings etc.

you might also try asking around manufacturers about their tech courses....tom might be able to hook you up with somone who can point you toward the angel one. and drop nick.t@planeteclipse.com a line about the ego tech level 1 course which you might enjoy, im not sure if he has dates set yet for the next one but im sure if he gets the right number of people he will run one. you could also ask nick about a couple of manuals for our various products, im sure we can send you some out for a little light reading, tell him matt sent you :)

MachineMart do a nice price Mill...theyalso do lathes etc....small Mill is around £350...

Also..it might be ab idea, to try building one around some new technoloy, like the MQ Valve..look in the Cockers section of PBN for info...and email me to get on my list if you want one..originally designed for cockers, but can (and has) had other markers built around it...

tonee, i (or rather tom) have something which you might like to take a look at, its an old angel marker that i was fiddling with, tom got it working but ive never had time to do anything else to it.....if you fancy it contact tom, its all yours if you want it, just cover the postage and when you are done with it pass it on to someone who will appreciate it.

Do a few comprehensive product analyses on latest generation markers and write yourself a Product Design Specification. They should answer all your questions. (An easy start is following the air flow from tank to bolt)

If that doesn't make sense, either go get a book, study design or drop the idea.

Good luck :)
