FAO Sleeping Beauty

Hi, I have just seen your comments on the Uni tournament string.

I am the secretary of the paintball society in Durham, and hope to be president next year. If you are interested in playing paintball then why haven't you got involved with the society? Last year we ran rec-days and played in nearly every tournament on the series 2001 circuit (picking up a Novice award).

This year we have run a number of rec-days this year which have been relatively poorly attended by our memebers, but we have taken a number of groups along and played some ball. We have over 80 members, are you one of them? Do you want to get involved? If you do then please refrain from slagging us off on the internet and come along to one of socials, or even come along to AGM coming up on monday (get in touch and I'll give you the info), and do something.

Excuse me if I take exception to your comments, but it will not reflect well on the society or team to here people insulting us, and to discover that you are in fact from Durham but aren't involved just makes me pretty angry, because I have been working very hard for the society this year.

Please do get in touch

Richard

Hey hey hey ... calm down calm down

Sorry all those other guys .... I'm sure this forum is not supposed to be used for personal slanging matches but .... when invited....

Richard!
Calm down calm down calm down. I'm not a member of durham uni paintball society because i have now graduated, (which you would have found out had you read the rest of the thread before jumping in half cocked and biting off my head! - indeed, more than you can chew.)

I'm SO sorry if I have offended your club but when I was at Durham there was no society; in its place were lots of minions fannying on trying to organise a society and getting no where. Congratulations on having set one up; I'm sure you're doing a wonderful job and working very hard at it. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE WHEN I WAS THERE and that's why I'm not a member and that's why I was so frustrated with it all. My personal views should not wind you up to this extent - I think I shot you once actually - just come along to the next tourney and maybe you can shoot me and get your own back... actually playing paintball not verbally - it's a much better way to settle disputes.

Good luck in converting Durham's world renouned apathy into something constructive and I wish you every success.

My apologies, I got the impresion that you were still in Durham (I must have misread your posts). However, your comments were seriously unwelcome and misinformed, I took great exception to them, hence my wish to set the record straight.

Many thanks for your reply and your apology is of course accepted. As I say, I have been working very hard for the society this year, and to be written off as apathetic was pretty hurtful.

I hope you don't feel that this was purely to send abuse to you, if I wanted to do that, I could have e-mailed you; your comments were made on a public forum, and I felt that my reply should also be.

I don't think we need this to get any more personal, I just wanted you to know that your comments offended people and didn't do the DUPS' reputation any good either. I don't bare a grudge, I just wanted to make it clear that your comments were not true.

Maybe I'll catch you at a tourney, its always great to see ex-durham students (and to know that we turn out normal...ish :D)

We'll be the ones in purple (though I'll be guesting for the Hellfish on the 17th, I hope, becuase 4 of our players will be out of the country  ).

Anyway, apology accepted, and sorry if you felt this was needlessly public and or abusive,

Catch you later

Richard
