i think that bloke has the right idea... no matter how many people turn up the prizes should be the same. Even though this could work in their favour of course. if the prize money was £500 and they needed 25 teams to enter to make sure this is possible then 45 teams enter they have got the better deal! fixed prizes FTW its the only way forward!
You gotta be kiddin' me?
I am the last person to defend a promoter, trust me on that point, but to suggest the prize monies should be the same no matter how many turn up is an insane suggestion and here's why :-
Paintball teams are notoriously irresponsible; if you you go to the trouble of organsing, setting up, employing staff and promoting a tournament and then await the bookings, this will happen; teams will call up and register and even tho you may well have in place a deposit contingency, you can bet your bottom dollar some teams are just not gonna turn up on the day.
And some of them ain't even gonna bother telling the promoters and the first he knows is when they are no-shows on the day.
Getting deposits in is a nightmare and so most promoters have to run the risk of 'taking people's words' and I'm afraid the word of a lot of balling teams out there means jack sh!t.
One of the most detestable sort of person involved in paintball is the promoter who declares (and trust me I know a lot of these guys) 'Oh, we don't earn any money from these events, I swear, we do it because we just luuurrrrve the sport'.....I wanna vomit when I hear that cr@p but I do have 'some' sympathy (not too much mind you) for promoters who have to rely on team's words for organising their events.
