Ion help please

Just wondering if any of you clever chaps on here can help me, just got an ion for me boy and according to the manual, you turn it on and the light blinks, this is supposed to be vision on, and ready to fire (normal firing mode, eye's on)

Press it again and the light blinks slower but in a double burst type thing (testing,cleaning mode) eye's off.

But when i first tried it the gun would only fire in the second mode (double blink) i thought it was the fact i didnt have any paint in it, hence the eye's telling it nothing was their.

But i tried it today and the ion would still only fire in mode 2 with paint.

So is their a setting somewhere i don't know about or is it the fact the eye's are broke, would stop it from firing (in that mode)

or have i got confused, which isn't hard

if you need me to try something else, by all means ask

Take the eyes out and give them a clean, make sure there's not any dirt/paint etc on them, reconnect and try it again. Also check to see if the cable for the eyes is broken or crushed etc. Failing that it's brobably the eyes that are broken.

ok little update, took it apart and cleaned it all, and as said eyes were caked it dirt and stuff, cleaned them all off and checked everything else (wires).

Tried it today with no balls, the lights all seem to work as the manual states now, so thanks, but the ion will still fire in vision mode, without paint, is this right ???

nope it souldnt fire when the eyes are on if there is no paint in the breach mate

i didt think so, i have re-checked it and it seems fine, as it will shoot does that mean the eye's are working but something is blocking the path (assuming they work on the beam not reaching the other side)

or would it still fire if the eye's were not working, i mean do the eye's send a signal to allow to fire or is it the other way, signal sent to stop it firing.

im not sure if that makes as much sense to you as it does to me

Im not paintball techy but a few things -

Have you

checked the board the eyes are attached to to make sure its not damaged?
checked the eye wire plus all related sockets aren't damaged or haven't been stretched?
tried resetting the board? (Remove power for 20 mins I think?)

Not sure if the boards still active but you could try www.ionowners.com or get in touch with warped they have smart parts techs.

yes m8, i did try these things, took it apart cleaned and checked all the bits, i dont leave a batt in it, so i suppose it gets reset everyday , but thanks for that didnt know thats how you reset them.

Not to worry peeps, gone to the techs at warped, looks like eyes shorting or something, getting new ones.
