Well, you know what second tier golf and tennis tourneys do, they use appearance fees to entice the top players. If Euroland wants Yanks let them pay for them.:)
Actually Paul, we would never have to mate, because the Yanks, for all their parochial outlook on world, love to come to Euroland, and they always have done.
I think it's because for the first time in most their lives, they come face to face with a culture that hasn't been manufactured or skewed by TV.

They get a chance to meet real people, people who have depth, and a culture that has its roots firmly planted in the history of a nation and not planted in a bank balance or the media ...tho I will readily concede, this is now acutely under threat.

Ya never know Paul, if you guys keep a comin' to little ole England, you might just get yer Yank ass cultur'fied :)

No thanks - I'd much rather remain infamous :)

As for the other stuff, I think we are talking past eachother.

I am saying that ........................................................

.........................Nick

Nick, you think we are two boats sliding past each other in the points we are making, I am suggesting we (paintball) have missed the boat...we ain''t gonna be taken seriously by anybody, we have tried it now lord knows how many times, I know of a multiplicity of endeavours ranging from TV to outside sponsorship of pro leagues blah, blah, blah, it ain't frikkin happenin'.

And if you feel that 'focusing' on the elite is the right way to go then I'm with the socialist majority here in standing up for the money I put in to facilitate such a skewed redirection of funds away from me toward the pros.
Nah, the promoters have to acknowledge there is no big deal at the the end of a paintball rainbow and get on with giving EVERYBODY value for money and not just the pros.

We need Grand Slam type events and not just pro showcases.
In my humble opinion that is....

Yes, I know, we're the uncouth 800 lb. gorilla but the point of your thread was getting Yank TEAMS to compete in Euroland--at least that's what I thought it was about. It's a given the players want to go--just not on their own dime. I was simply offering an alternative that is used by other sports no one had yet mentioned. (Perhaps for obvious reasons but still ...)

I think you may have missed my point mate because for all the money troubles there have been in the past year or so, the fact is, Europe is increasingly being seen as a place in which to invest (hence PMI, Dye and NPS coming over).
And so I was taking it for granted (maybe foolishly so) that the US industry would still see pro team support to Europe as a viable and much needed loss leader thereby negating the need for us to pay.

I do agree however that in the eventuality the industry did not support the US teams coming over that we (The Millennium) should then consider bringing them across at our expense or at least go some way in supporting them.

Hello All,
I agree with Pete on this, up to a point. Generally sportspeople enjoy watching their betters compete, as this is the way they learn and also an enjoyable spectacle for them to watch, as opposed to regular divisional play, which is boring as hell. Boredom is the anti-spectacle, and the problem with Euro events now is that most of the games are boring to watch unless you have a special interest. Regional paitball events in the US are also incredibly boring. Hence I agree that the Euro's would love to see the yank teams there and in turn, the yanks love nothing better than to be treated as some kind of superstars, and can strut around to their hearts content.
The US teams already get favoritism from the MS and have done for years. I doubt Dynasty ever paid an entry into that league, even when they won an event. The organisers know that they are worth 10 entries because these 10 teams will enter just for the chance to see them and play against them (because they are sniveling fan-boys). Problem was, if you had a free entry, you still didn't make enough money to cover flights and hotels even if you won. The key is not to pay for the yanks, it is to have a high enough prize packet to get them to play. Money-hungry adolescents that they are, the top 5 teams would switch league anyway if the prize-money was right.
Plus, this way the euro's still get a chance to win the cash, which is only fair.

As for the European market, I don't think its any more viable than it was before. National have partially retreated, and merged with PMI anyway. Its the US market being SO down that actually makes Europe seem more attractive. Its like the Industry had 5 pints of Stella, and now think Europe looks pretty tasty. The European paintball market is, and always has been, the US industries version of 'Nam. They keep on bombarding the Euro's and making thier high profile invasions, then they realise 'why are we here' and retreat under cover of darkness back to thier fastness of capitalism and xenophobic bliss.

There's no point being all specific at this stage. Its easier to agree on some fundamentals. I believe there will be one league in the US at the end of the year. I hate to be the one to say it, but this time it will happen.

You agree with me to a point???
To a point????
Frikkin 'ell Owen, just say you agree me with me mate, it's easier that way after having read this post.
There's no shame in realising you agree with me and then publicly stating it, it just tells me you know what you are talking about and use that brain of yours ... but then again, I have known that for quite a while anyways.
Welcome back.....
Hope to see you in Europe sometime ....if ya know what I mean !!!!!!!!!!!

And for the people out there who might not know who MissyQ is, well rather than reveal his true identity, let's just say out of everybody here, he is better placed to make a valued judgement on this whole affair .....and one day, hopefully, he will put his point of view into practice ..... European practice !!!!
