ermm....
I think you must both have it wrong. I'm a 35 yr old 315lb African American chick with a penchant for Chocolate and Rap Music.
Last I heard, Owen was a stunningly handsome British guy with more charm than Harry Potter. Although I wouldn't leave Baca Loco for him. I need someone much bigger to handle by ass. I could flatten Owen before I reached climax...

Pete, send me a mail that I can reply to. One of my mails was a lead on a guy that wants to advertise with you, the others were just the usual run-of-the-mill pictures of me in my leopard-print gear, and you have plenty of those already...

Pete isn't very good at keeping your secret identity secret when you're on the other side of the argument from him.

we ain''t gonna be taken seriously by anybody, we have tried it now lord knows how many times, I know of a multiplicity of endeavours ranging from TV to outside sponsorship of pro leagues blah, blah, blah, it ain't frikkin happenin'.
I disagree. If you are inside, and you try to get outside by walking into the wall, even if you do it several times, that doesn't mean it's not possible to get outside; it just means you'd be more successful if you used the door.

Paintball has failed to date because we haven't done it right - that's all there is to it. Failure number one was trying to lead the way to out-of-industry sponsorship through television.

Agreed. Outside sponsorship will come with larger demographs. The companies that are now starting to take over paintball know a thing or two about that. Question is, will they find this larger demograph in tournament ball, or in some other form? In other words, where will this out of industry loot end up?

Jay has hit the nail squarely on the head. Just because 'outside industry' money finds its way into the sport, that does not mean it will end up anywhere near the players, and even if it does, it will be for very few of them.
I doubt there is a baller on this forum that will see any of it.

I disagree with Chicago though. I don't feel he (or anyone else at this stage) is placed to define ANY of the previous efforts definitively as 'failures'. For all anyone knows, they were important steps which, had they not been made, would add a further 10 years to Paintrballs woes. No-one knows or sure, so such statements are redundant and speculative in a purely negative way. Its not a case of doing it 'right'. There is no formula, otherwise everyone would follow it and we would all have our own shows on TV, even College Paintball, which I would watch only if the paint on my fence had already dried.

The only 'secret' I know of is hard work, and luckily for all of us, there are still people working hard trying to break paintball open so that it can be a profitable industry again. Unfortunately there are also people working hard to pull the rug out from those making these efforts, and those who prefer to knock the work, rather than nurture it and appreciate that it is also done for them. I classify Chicago as one of these people, always have, and while it's nothing personal, I just don't get it.

There's nothing Gay about making sweet beautiful love to another woman Lump. I mean seriously....

And Where's Lane these days? Come back Lane!!! I have some **** to give you, and my congratulations (of course).
For those who don't know, Lane just won the prize for Most Improved Cassanova of the Decade. In fact, if someone said that Lane was getting his own show on Fox, called 'Hillbilly of Love', I would not be suprised, and would make sure I watched every show, just so I could pick up a few tips myself.

Lane - you the man!! I want to buy you a beer, and have you tell me blow-by-blow stories...

Assuming those outside sponsors come around, will they look at tournament paintball and think "interesting, I see possibilities" or "interesting but these guys are such ***holes I'll take my money elsewhere"?

I still think one of the biggest obstacles the sport has in acquiring outside sponsorship is it's own lack of professionalism. I'm referring to the "what can you do for me?" attitude of most players. I see this all the way down to the local level, which I find ridiculus. Teams/players should be saying to their sponsors "what can we do for each other?" but I don't see that attitude from too many teams.

I wonder how many people have read Tony Hawk's biography? Compare the early days of skateboarding to where we are now - little money, sponsorship mostly in product, struggling sport. Tony and the other skateboarders of the time worked hard to support their sponsors and promote the sport through free clinics and store demos, frequent road trips (under crappy conditions and for little money). I wonder how many big-time paintballers would be willing to put out like that without coping an attitude?
