Jorge, when we talked about it in Madrid I became more receptive than before to the idea because I saw player behavior change significantly during last season after we started making all gun hits obvious. I generally agree with moving the benefit of the doubt away from the shootee and over to the shooter. I then discussed this with Laurent who agreed with the idea. After that I discussed the idea of making all hits obvious with some other people and a good argument against it is the very real possibility of backpack hits destroying games before the eyes of bewildered spectators. What I do like about the concept, besides the simplicity of it, is the fact that players are probably aware of such hits more often than not.Originally posted by jotajotaZ
What's your take on this, Sam? I recall talking with you about this in Madrid and you were less than thrilled with the idea. Do you still think it will be a nightmare?
I do believe div.1 will be locked after this season. With how many teams i don`t remember.Originally posted by Steve Hancock
And I still don't think the risk of subsiquent divisions following suit is a justification for not letting Div 1 play M7 if that is what a majority of Div 1 teams want. And as Div 1 and 2 aren't locked (correct me if that is wrong) surely those in Div 2 who want to play M7 could move up, and those in Div 1 who don't could move down.
That's not a very real possibility unless your refs suck. Refs should see most pack hits when they happen. If you see it, you should get i there and pull the player, no penalty. If you miss it and you find it later, it's only fair to the other team that they get the advantage of playing up a guy to balence the other team getting the advantage of playing up a guy, even if they didn't mean to.Originally posted by Wadidiz

For crying out loud, it's still paintballOriginally posted by Steve Hancock
What if in 2007 the top two divs play M7. Then you have a whole div who will be lacking in experience in the format they are playing!

The format is just fine tuning.
I completely agree with this statement!!Paintball people have this weird tendency to view penalties in the context of intent. Penalties have nothing to do with intent, they have to do with the infraction. Either the infraction happened or it didn't. Playing when you're dead when you know about it has exactly the same effect on the game as playing when you're dead when you don't know about it and there's no reason to try and differentiate between the two
