Paintball will never become a recognised sport until a few things happen.
UNIVERSAL STANDARDIZED RULES : 5,7, or 10 man? Can we have a single rulesheet that works at EVERY tournament? Hmm?
UNIVERSAL RULES COMITTEE : people who work the 'front office', and not play.
a CODE OF ETHICS for the players : And a code that's ENFORCED.
A game that's VISUALLY exciting : Paintball is boring to watch becasue it bogs down after a minte. Then only gets exciting near the end. Playing 1 hopper games forces movement, but nobody wants to play "Hopperball" becasue "It sucks." It doesn't, it just forces movement by removing the volumes of paint. But this falls under the "Standards" bit...
Once we have that, then we can get to the media stuff, like cvoaching the athletes in how to be media savvy. At Skyball the players looked just helpless when tey were answering questions. "So you're looking forward to the finals?" "Uhh, yah." Huh?
Paintball is a hobby right now, to become a full fledged sport a lot of the players need to grow up, get into making a standard, and then work to become truly professional.
