If this is the millenium rules
I'm confused because i'm sure that Chris lasoya was playing for Diablo image in campaign 2001
He plays for avalanche, so that is surely against the rules???
I may be wrong
:( :( so confused

anyway i do not have a problem with teams having guest players. Better a team be there than not at all!!!
I would not blame a loss to a team because they have a guest player. Not that it happens much :D
Don't get it though because in most professional sports we have this little thing called TRANSFERS!!!!!
can imagine it now :D
Oldham Athletic player moaning they lost because one of Blackpool FC players used to play in the premiership
So just say its a transfer for the day:D :D

You're only jealous 'cos you're not getting a hug. Don't worry - I'm sure the hellfish will have a group hug at the Angel Cup :)

I think you're allowed in the Millennium series to register on another team ONCE for ONE tourney, I don't think you can play for more than one team at the SAME tourney. Whoever you are registered with on the day you MUST play for, not sure what the penalties are. As for LaSoya he did play with Diablo Image and I think that was the only change he made during the Millennium series that year, then again it was Richmond Italia's (owner of Diablo) team which means he can do what he wants anyway.

Now now Al, are you insinuating that if you're what us mere mortals would call "high up" in the paintball world, you can get away with things that us mortals wouldn't?
Nah, that would never happen {I say, slipping on my rose-tinted specs}

coughgunthrowingcough - whoops, nasty slip of the keyboard there! ;)

Yeah, I know this is a mile off of the thread topic, but hey, it's late! :p

Not even sure how this thread got here...I'm sure my original query was under "DMA views" in the tournament section...

Any chance we can get the thread back on track...It was specifically regarding the Millennium, nothing else and yes it was about players switching rostas in the middle of a tournament...

Note to Si (Hellfish). The series 2K2 events are a whole different ball game to the Millennium and I think even you must realise that. People of ALL skill levels just turn up on the offchance that a team is short and they might get a game and they'll play in any division. These tourneys are a breeding ground for new players and for new talent to develop. And they're supoposed to be fun.

I certainly have no problems with higher division players guesting for smaller teams (although it does take the pi$$ a little when more than half a division E team takes the field with more Div A players than their own squad, but still, it's fun). We're there to play paintball and as Al rightly points out the lower div players can learn alot by playing alongside a better player for the day. Anyway all you take home is a plastic trophy and the bragging rights so I sure as hell ain't going to lose any sleep over it. Believe it or not I do have slightly more important things going on in my life.

You know as well as everyone else does that at Bully's tournaments players are always switching about and yet you find it necessary to single out the two teams you seem to have personal issues with. I notice you didn't say anything about the time when the Chicks got ripped apart by a division "E" team with two Shockwave players guesting for the day (and yes the Hellfish were there that day but I suppose you were oblivious to that too) I also note you don't mention that last year the Chicks stood in for more than half the Hellfish just so you guys could get the tournament points or did that slip your mind too?

Sorry Si, but that was a really cheap dig and even though Liz might forgive you, I sure as hell won't and in future might I suggest that if you have any issues you keep them off the board.

OK, back to the Millennium rules, before this gets even more personal.

A player registers as a player for a specific team at the first tournament they play IN THAT SERIES (e.g. 2001, 2002). Thereafter, the number of times they can change teams and/or levels during THAT SERIES is determined by their level (pro, am, novice). If a player changes teams mid-SERIES they must re-register as a player of their new team and pay a 15 Euro fee for a new ID card. Whatever level someone plays at, they are allowed at least one transfer per series. This means that Chris & all the other 'Lanche players who turned out for Image at last year's Campaign Cup were eligible to play, as that was their one & only transfer for the 2001 season. For anyone confused about AA & Strange players seeming to guest for each other, I think that there is one All Americans Strange team entered this year, which will have 1 squad only playing at each tournament and have done their marshalling tournament (Germany).

However, as the rules also state that a team's roster must be submitted before the captain's meeting at each tournament and that a) this cannot be changed & b) a player can't be on more than one roster then a player cannot be able to play for more than 1 team per Millennium event. I'm guessing that the roster being submitted to the organisers is so they can check it against registered players to ensure that no cheating takes place, though I'm not sure whether this is done or not.

In summary - a player can play for more than 1 team in a series, but not at a tournament.

Phew - must be my longest post ever!

> new thread, new discussion!

> I think Si is focusing on this particular scenario simply because it had an obvious effect from the sidelines. Simply put, people noticed!

I notice you didn't say anything about the time when the Chicks got ripped apart by a division "E" team with two Shockwave players guesting for the day

> see below, I have issues with that!

(and yes the Hellfish were there that day but I suppose you were oblivious to that too) I also note you don't mention that last year the Chicks stood in for more than half the Hellfish just so you guys could get the tournament points or did that slip your mind too?

> but the chicks and the hellfish aren't that far apart in terms of skill, were all part timers and pretty low in skill I think.

Sorry Si, but that was a really cheap dig and even though Liz might forgive you, I sure as hell won't and in future might I suggest that if you have any issues you keep them off the board.

> I dont know about cheap, I think it was a pretty good point. No-one is saying its a hanging offence but I watched a chicks game on the hyperball field where a guy in a clowns jersey singlehandedly marched up the near side tape and shot out 6 of 7 of the other team, ran and got the flag and hung it before even half the chicks realised what was going on. I'm sure it was a great learning experience for the chicks to see play like that, but if I was on the other side I'd be pretty peed off about that. I'd be especially peed off if I was the team that finished 4th and missed out on a little trohpy and the chance to thank their sponsor at the presentation of said trophy.

I'm not suggesting there was any malicious intent whatsoever, we've all grabbed random players when we've been short in the past. It's just occasionaly it has a real impact on the other teams in the division. At the end of the day I dont think its worth the hassle of legislating for, as I honestly wouldnt want any team to go out a man down, its just food for thought.

The issue of stacking *several* higher div players in a lower team is something else altogether I think, and thats up to the conciense (sp?) of the team captain whos putting that team together. We all have to play fair at the end of the day, thats the essense of our hobby/sport.

Just a to point out a small fact.

There were NO rules whatsoever regarding players transfering teams during previous season. The only rules were max number of Pro or Am players guesting on Am or Novice teams.

That's why Diablo Image weren't in breach of any rules and how Consellium dei (sp?) won the Am at Campaign with 2 US pro's.......

So please don't throw your guns about ;)
