It is now Monday, the day after the event. I'm sitting here thinking to myself "hmmmm, was it good or was it sheeeeite" and I can't make my mind up. On one hand we played some good ball and actually started to smooth over our paintball basics and play nice, tight paintball and still try to push on teams on some damn near impossible terrain; yet, on the other hand, the fields WERE pretty impossible to do anything on which kinda put a dampener on a potentially good tournament. We had 1 win, 1 loss and 6 draws yet were still in the running for 2nd place (eh?) in the last game but ended up being tooooo frustrated as once you took the 50, even the 60, you just couldn't go anywhere.

So, what did everyone else think of the fields????

Frustrating?? Difficult?? Enjoyable?? I'd like to know dudes, just to ease my fragile little mind. ;)

totally agree with you al
those fields were just too hard to break open
on the woodland we had a 6-2 situation and we just could not get them out of there
cheers

As you guys know I marshalled the woodland field, the majority of the games were a draw! The only team to win on both ends of the field were Team Sabre.
In total there was only about 5 or 6 wins on that field.

Piece of piss to marshall though apart from the usual spray.
Thanks ro all the teams who played and thanked us after the game.

Al in your last game on the woodland field noone pushed up as far as you guys did! I reakon if the game hadn't had to of been stopped you'd of taken that one!

i thought the same really
i though because it was limited paint it was very hard to break through i think we won 3 lost one and drawn 4 something like that and came 3rd.
i enjoyed the woodland event because i thought the fields where quite nice the speedball field was abit of a pain because you where limited to where you could move to.
i think alot of this was about tactics and technique really as most teams found it difficult to reall break through
i enjoyed the event thow regardless and thought the day went realy well.

First off, the tourney was organised at short notice, so all props to the guys at SWAT and Bully and crew. The atmosphere was good and there was a wide range of abilities represented. As always the organisation and running was top.

However, there has to be a but......The fields were ****E! Modern p'ball is all about movement and excitement. The fields on offer penalised the adventurous teams and rewarding the ability of a couple of back players to dig in and just play the timer out. The tyre field was far to open for forward players to move effectively. The woodland field might just as well have been dropped and every team given a draw instead to save on the paint bill. It was mentioned by the marshalls that no more than four teams had maxed the field. This is because once the first two thirds of the field had been decided, any half decent back player in the centre back barricade could hold the entire field from a position that was as good as impenetrable. As for the speed ball field, ARE YOU TAKING THE PISS??!!! That field was a joke, even from the centre there was nowhere to go, with no width to play with and the length being sooo short it was possible for the back guys to stop any movement after the initial break. I like the 2002 series and enjoy playing a wide range of terrain and field types, but this was unacceptable, it must be realised that concept must be the dominat factor in the field type and the fields must encourage movement and prevent the digging in of back players.

Come on guys, you can do better.

Yeah totally agree with all that, just thought id add my two cents worth:

What was going on with the chrono judge on the speedball field?!
Sometimes hed confiscate a marker if one shot was over 300fps and sometimes he wouldnt, and two games before the end of the day following some dummy spitting from the chameleons they realised the fncking chrono was buggered and had been reading over all day!! Saying that though our game against the Celtic Warriors on that field when we were three guns down was the most fun game of the day - and i didnt even have a marker :D

I think the main problem with the fields was the materials for bunkers, on every field you could sit tight behind a bunker and see everything through gaps in the tyres/twigs/whatever and in almost all of our games people were just sitting there with their barrel pokin out some two inch gap! At least with solid baricades you dont have the problem of gettin totally spray painted through the holes - which can lead to some shall we say debatable eliminations and you now that if you push someone back in then they cant see you, thereby lettin you move...

All in all though we had a good day, even if some of the actual games were fairly dull stalemates, the attitude (of most teams, as russell, steve and whoever was watching a certain team on the speedball field with us will appreciate  ) was great.

Cheers very muchly to the guys at SWAT, big thanks to Tracy, and massive big up respect inside the place for the DIAMOND GEEZAS -Steve n Russell - cheers for the paint guys, see you next month :p

Oh yeah, nice one to all the teams who played, except RDX, who we hate.

Nya Nya Na Nya Na our trophy was bigger than yours ;) :p :D

The general feeling from our guys was we had a good day .But the speedball field was a bit too limiting and the wood .....well I won't go into that one as it may cause a prob......not nice, well marshalled but just not a field to play a to play for a win......:(

Overall the event was well organised ,the marshalls on the speedball field were excellent.....all over you like a rash and the possibility of wiping totally impossible....we saw one guy pulled just as he tried to.......superb!!.....nice to see:)

Overall most of the players there prefered Sup-Air....just a general feeling I got from a few teams I spoke to......but to play a new concept style field over different terrain(tyre field) was an experience ....I enjoyed my day as a whole..........don't knock it.....

At least we got to play:) :) :)

The fun in this game is what it's about.......not teddy chucking.

Regards to all that played and if we play you at the Woodland event at Wakefield.....we'll see you in the middle.

hmmmmn..

That theft was bad ****, considering that all my kit, including stuff like my phone n wallet n stuff just gets left in the safe area im worried by that. The only thing im hoping is that it was some kids or someone else not involved in the tourney coz i cant bring myself to think any one of u guys (meaning paintballers in general, not the people on here before i get flamed) would ever stoop as low as stealing from another paintballer, especially somerthing so fncking important and loved as someones marker.

Very Bad **** and apart from never playing paintball again if any one finds out who this guy is he should be locked up in a smelly turkish jail, with only rats for company in my extremely irate and disheartened opinion
