Get you and the guys booked into the M5.

It will be fun and when your back has given out after the first days play you can head over to the DYE booth and have it sorted by Olly who will be helping the old, tired and needy.

:)
We'd love to play Jeff... You want to pay for the transport, entry fee's, hotel's and paint? We'll be there then.....

The costs are a big issue for a lot of teams, we're only playing at the very lowest level (KOTH at the UKM) but not all of our team work full time and some of us have other bills/debts to pay off. I think a lot of teams are in the same position as well. I'd love to be able to commit more, train several times a week, improve as much as possible and see just how far we can take our team. But unless I win the lottery, it's just not going to happen. Doesn't matter how good I want to be, if I can't afford paint/travel/gear etc I cant do much!

It is true that a lot of people do seem to expect to be able to get good without putting the effort in. If you look at Fireball Gym, seems a brilliant idea, unlimited play with no paint bills for a set monthly fee, fantastic. But from all accounts not many people used it, which is a big shame. If there was somewhere like that near me, I'd be there as often as I could, means you can practice as much as you like for the price of a couple of boxes of paint a month... But if you have no choice but to travel to get to a site and to keep shooting paint then practice is always going to cost money, especially to unsponsored teams like ourselves.

We are improving just from playing tournaments and will be looking to step up a division shortly and it does make me wonder how much we could improve if we could afford to do good, regular training.

I think a lot of the UK teams are in exactly the same boat as us, "sponsored" teams are generally given things at discount and not truely sponsored so their costs are slightly lower, but not insignificant and unless people are in highly paid jobs can they really afford to play paintball several times a week, attend atleast one tournament a month and enter CC?

I agree with Mr Dane (Have too really:p ) I would like our team to play but I know it won't be anytime soon.

The turn out is poor for UK teams going on what Robbo stated and for the newer or younger teams, Millenium/CC is just too much to reach for. Playing a tourney a month and maybe one walkon or training session is about as far as the pound stretches for some of us.

Not sure what the solution is (apart from better paid jobs). I know its not a lack of enthusiasm on some teams parts or a lack of wishing to travel. If I could afford to pay for the team I would. Maybe the way ahead is not going to be made this year, maybe we need to be looking at saving to play the event next year now.......

To be fair I don't think this post/topic is aimed at the newly formed teams or koth teams (no offence intended - as i would class us as a new team!!)

But when you have enough UK teams to warrant north and south tournaments operating divs 1-4 (NSPL/Masters/PA/etc) there should really be a lot more than only 28 teams entered into the CC!!!

A number of events this year have attracted less teams than previous years, and the euro5man was even postponed as a result of it - our reason for not attending these was purely so we could afford CC - I would hope that we're not alone and that a lot of other teams will soon be entering???!?

I think you have to allow for the 'don't you know who I am?' factor; a lot of teams ring up at the last minute expecting a place 'cos they expect to be included as a matter of course:rolleyes:

Yes of course.

So if I want to spend more money than I have coming in, the magic money fairy will appear and give me some.

Most retarded thing I've ever heard on these boards.

People seem to think that paintball teams can afford to do *everything*, enter every event, train several times a week, always have the latest kit. The money has to come from somewhere.

Feel free to critisize the teams that *can* afford it and *should* play, but don't. But don't assume that every team could afford it even if they wanted to.

Not really, we had a player who basically sold all his kit so he could come and play an event with us, so it shows people will do what they need to to play
