The rules that the MS use (and are in turn used by many UK events) are based on the PSP rules.
Rules are essentially a matter of common sense, but unfortunately you cannot teach common sense.
The underlying factor is that the US - particularly the West Coast - has many of the best players in the world, who practice against each other several times a week.

If we look toward what the Russians achieved when they burst onto the paintball scene not so long ago. They'd been training in Moscow with no top end oppostion to practice against and became one of the world's top 4 teams.
If we look closer to home and with a fair degree of self-interest, when I started Nexus, we played and trained on our own for that first 6 months or so and ended up getting into the world's top ten teams in our first season ..
Playing against top end oppostiion certailny helps the cause but it's not the only route to the top mate.
If you know what to train and how to do it, you can get to the top, I know this to be true, all you need is the resolve and the right players.
