UK Team Info

Following on from the other thread in this forum entitled 'UK Disgrace' it might be worth expanding our knowledge of the problem our teams seem to be having when it comes to representation at the highest levels in Europe.

Now, there are a few possibilities, we could be congenitally crap, that is as Brits, there is something in us or our culture that precludes us from being great ballers.
That's bollocks because although we have got a cultural problem with the way we view fellow countryman's success, I don't believe this extends to our actual playing abilities.
Historically, certainly within the pro divisions, when one team becomes ascendant within the UK pro ranks, instead of attracting respect, all it does is attract hate and vitriol.
I think however this might be changing a little, I hope so but there are some people still involved in UK proball who I wouldn't trust in this respect as far as I could throw Ledz and they only show respect because it suits them to do that.
Moving on.....we now have the possibility that we just don't have enough teams training correctly in that we got the same percentage of teams taking things seriously as other Europeans but we just ain't training right and therefore when we get to playing against other Euro teams, they kick our Brit ass because we just don't train right.

And the third possibility is that we just don't have the number of teams and therefore the cream that rises to the top of our contracted playing pool just doesn't reflect the same quality as other Euros because they have many more teams.

And so to find out which of the latter two we suffer from, can all the teams who train at least once a month register themselves in this thread and at least this way, we can have a handle of what's going on with us.
Obviously the teams I have already mentioned need not register but we do need all the others to make themselves know.

Quake has suffered this season from a dwindling player pool (grass is greener and burnout) and a lack of finances from those that remain, those that put the effort and time in have on the whole run outa money. Our sponsors have helped us with equipment and paint and without Proto and Ambush we'd have died at the beginning of the year. We will carry on and we will compete untill it is impossible for us to do so.

Cardiff XM7: We play the NSPL (Div3 at the mo) and train once a month usually. Just depends on funds for a lot of people.

Team Zone, Started off this season with a great start in warming up at the open de catalunya though after our second millenniums many troubles hit us with members being relocated due to there jobs or new career paths being taken and then as we all have to budget to ensure our families and homes come first. So finance is one of the biggest problems as our beloved government just wants more from you the more you earn. I think for most with a mortgage and young family it is justifying the balance as who do you keep happy the most the wife/family or your team. Though a good team will do its best to help out in hard times for those players it recognizes.
Also there is the lack of players coming through the due to i think the cost of the sport itself, it is not and will never be one of the cheapest of competitive sports.I for one has been requested by the company that i work for to work away most of this year around the UK, this has left me problems of only getting home fortnightly and then balancing up seeing my wife and children and then playing my beloved sport.

Though we have as a team have seen and stuck together and which some teams might have just given up. With all that we have come up with a new and better training program and have come up with various new ways to try and attract new players into the game.

Leicester wildfire started the season with a tough squad and full of 'fire' but due to loss of four key players we have suffered but we are re-building ranks we dont train together once a month yet due to training ground issues above most of the players control (something messy went on with another team apparently ) But most of us train at least once a month else where and we also play a tourney once a month too ... team numbers pending

The League (LXB) Have just celebrated their one year birthday, and have always trained at least once a month, however recently we have just started to train extensively at Dartford 7's. Our roster has increased to about 15 people now and we are doing okay. For our captain however it does take up a lot of his time, and we can only practice and play tournaments as much as our funds allow. Looking strong on our front though.

Swarm
On field pre arranged/structured training once per month (a few drills followed by games to practice), reball training (purely drills, for 9 hours minimum) at least once per month, normally twice.
Playing P.A. (and thanks to Robbo) doing fine.
Played Campaign with more guests than we would have liked, due to commitments and injuries of some of the core squad, but in all honesty no excuse for the standard of our play on Friday.
Planning to play a minimum of three Millenniums in Div 2 next year and the P.A.

train every 2 weeks, fitness every week together, or more as individuals. PLay div 1 masters, played div 3 campaign this year, playing 2 milleniums next year. Been on the go since about febuary this year.
average age of the team is 19ish bar the captain

These are the main reason, finance and the lack of proper training grounds with the correct facilities and if you think its anything else you are delusional. Finance being the biggest cause.

TIGERS AM train once a month this year and its cost us .
Loosing a few players at the start did not help .
But we are back with a good lot of players now and will up training to 2 times a month from now on...
