Hey ho everyone...
I'm a baller living in New Zealand playing at NZ's top level. We don't really have a playing population to support Pro/Am/Nov brackets, and over the past couple of years things have been setting into 1st Div (Pro) and 2nd Div (Am). I'm actually a Yank, though I started playing in NZ.
My question is this. How do skills and divisions tend to scale across the world?
A while back I was looking at shifting back to the States, but that is not on the cards now. As part of the shift my major concerns were "Where is the best place to move to, to play ball" and "What level will I play at". I wasn't going to move to California. Just doesn't appeal. But one thing was damn sure. I don't want to play anything less than Pro. Granted the levels of play may not line up with what I'm used to, but I can't imagine just hanging back in the Ams or something (Not that I'm implying that is an easy thing).
I don't even remotely want to come across as "I'm good enough to play Pro". That's not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying I just want to play at the top level no matter where I am.
Sorry...After that waffle and back to the question. How do things scale across the world? Is it so different from place to place that you can't make a judgement about "I'm going from here and play at Y, and I'm moving to there and have to play Z"?
Bleah. This question didn't flow as nicely as I'd hoped it would. Anyone who understands what I'm asking is more than welcome to answer.
Cheers,
